Mica is a generic term applied to a group of complex aluminosilicated containing potassium, magnesium, iron, sodium, fluorine and lithium. Each member of the group exhibits different physical properties but all from flat six-sided monoclinical crystals with a definite cleavage in the direction of large surfaces, allowing them to split casily into optically flat films as thin as 1μm. In the industry mineral market, we can see white mica(Muscovite), black mica, brown mica(Phlogopite) & lithia mica (lepidolite). The most popular Mica is white mica(Muscovite).

White Mica named Muscovite because this name is from Muscovy glass, 

when first described from Muscovy Province Russia.

Color/Luster    Colorless, gray, brown, pale green, violet, yellow, dark liver green, ruby,

or scaly massive.

Brown Mica is named Phlogopit, because it is from the greek phlogistos = 

to burn or inflame alluding to its reddish tinge
